Everybody loves their home to look aesthetically pleasing – and one of the best ways to do that is to have lights installed with a switch at the end. But it can be difficult and confusing to install them on your own. Believe it or not, this is a relatively easy do-it-yourself project that can be done in just a few steps – you don’t need to be an electrician, but you should have some basic knowledge of electricity and power tools.
To get started, turn off the circuit breaker for the area you will be working on and disconnect any existing wiring and devices. Then, begin by installing the switch into the wall. Make sure to use screws the right size for the type of wall you are working with. Depending on the type of switch you are using, the installation process may vary. The same goes for the box. Installing the walls box is quite simple, but it does require a bit more attention as the wires and switch must be secured in the correct places.
Finally, attach the wire to the switch. Make sure to wrap the end of the wire with electrical tape and secure it firmly to the back of the switch. Also, connect all of the other wires according to their colors and configurations before securing the cover. Now, with the wiring and switch all in place, you can go ahead and turn the circuit breaker back on and test your new lights with the switch at the end. With these few simple steps, you are now able to wire lights with a switch at the end without having to call a professional.
