Control wiring diagram of an air circuit breaker (ACB) is a device used to protect electrical circuits from overcurrent, short circuit and overloads. It is used to maintain the normal operation of electrical systems. ACBs are generally connected upstream of the main supply in order to cut off power during an abnormal situation.

A typical control wiring diagram of an ACB consists of multiple levels of combinations which involve various control circuits, relay connections, and contactors. The first level of control involves input power connections to the ACB. This includes a connection to the mains, transformer, and the lineup for the motor starter circuit. The next step involves the installation of the internal control relays, which act as the link between the ACB and the external control circuit. Then, an array of pressure switches are connected in series to the ACB, allowing it to detect any pressure variations in the system. Finally, the contactor is connected to the ACB to control the ACB’s operation, such as open/close, trip/reset, and other operations.

When troubleshooting an ACB system, knowledge of its control wiring diagrams is essential. By reading through the diagrams, technicians can quickly identify and diagnose any problems and repair them accordingly. Control wiring diagrams also make it easier to maintain and operate ACBs, as they provide a clear visual representation of how the system functions. Knowing how ACBs work and their control wiring diagrams is essential for those who work with electrical systems.
