This same protection lends itself to uses in outdoor settings, which is why it can be used outdoors.
That said, you should be aware that not all BX cables are created equal. Not all BX cables can handle extreme weather conditions or temperatures. Generally speaking, for an outdoor setting, you will need BX cables that have been rated for use in wet, cold, and damp environments. Additionally, BX cables still need to be connected to a circuit breaker or other routing that is specifically rated for outdoor use. When both of these conditions are met, you should have no problem using BX cables outdoors.
