Most of us have had to use a 3G extension cord for an appliance or tool at some point in our lives. The first step is to unplug the cord from the wall outlet. Then, remove the plastic cover from the socket using a small flathead screwdriver. Next, find and unscrew the screws that attach the cable to the socket. Once this is done, be sure to label each color-coded wire so you know what each one connects to on the other end. Blue should be labeled “neutral,” green/yellow is ground, and brown/red is the live wire.
Now prepare the new cable. You will need to strip away the outer sheath to access the individual wires. Cut off the original connector, and strip each wire about 3-4mm to expose the copper. Using a flathead screwdriver, tie each wire to the corresponding colored wire in the extension cord. Make sure the connections are secure, and then replace the plastic cover on the socket. After testing the connection to ensure it’s working, you’re finally done!
With a few extra tools and a bit of patience, you can easily rewire a 3G extension cord and get your appliance back in working order. Now you won’t have to worry about dangerous shorts or power outages caused by a faulty wire.
