Gfci Breaker Installation Diagram

By | June 23, 2020

GFCI breakers which are also known as ground fault circuit interrupters, have been touted for their capability to prevent possible shock hazards. With this being said, it is important to ensure that you know how to properly install a GFCI breaker in order to make sure it fulfills its purpose and keeps your home safe.

The first step in the GFCI breaker installation process is to locate the circuit breaker panel and determine the type of circuit breaker that you need to install. Once this has been identified, the next step is to shut off the power to the breaker panel. Once you have the power shut off, you can then begin to remove the existing breaker and replace it with the GFCI breaker. The GFCI breaker installation process may vary depending on the make and model of the GFCI breaker, however, some basic steps that should be followed in most cases include connecting the neutral and hot wires to the new GFCI breaker, attaching the ground wire, tightening all of the screws, and then closing the panel.

Once your GFCI breaker has been installed, it is important that you take the time to test it. This can be done by pushing the 'Test' and 'Reset' buttons on the face of the breaker. If the breaker trips properly, you will know it is working correctly. Additionally, you should also consult with a certified electrician if you have any doubts regarding the installation or the safety of the GFCI breaker. Following these precautions will ensure that your GFCI breaker does its job--protecting you from possible shock hazards.
